I’ve been wondering what an AI data center sounds like. I live within driving distance of one, so I took my field recording gear and recorded audio there.
2 separate locations are recorded, both on August 23rd, 2026. Only the first one was at the data center. Location 2 was recorded as a control for comparison.
Location 1: the Microsoft Fairwater Data Center, Fayetteville, Georgia.

I recorded this audio with a spaced stereo pair of Clippies into a Zoom F3 field recorder. I processed the audio in Reaper and output the clip as a FLAC file, normalized to -16 LUFS-I.
Definitely hear some background noise in the datacenter recording, but I'm pretty sure it is just road noise.
